Dr. João Tovar Jalles is currently Assistant Professor of Macroeconomics at the Lisbon School of Economics & Management of the University of Lisbon. Previously he was a senior economist at the Portuguese Public Finance Council, Portugal. Before that he worked as an economist at International Monetary Fund (IMF) (USA), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) (France) and the European Central Bank (ECB) (Germany). In addition, parallel to his experiences as a professional economist he also kept a teaching career on the side: Dr. Jalles taught at the Sciences Po (France), the University of Abeerden (UK), the University of Cambridge (UK) and Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal). He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Cambridge (UK).
Dr. Jalles is among the top 5% economic authors in the World and among the top 1% economic authors in Portugal based on IDEAS database (the largest bibliographic database dedicated to Economics). Dr. Jalles has more than 100 publications in top economics journals, such as Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, International Journal of Forecasting, Oxford Economic Papers, Regional Studies, European Journal of Political Economy, Energy Economics, European Review of Economic History. He also has a large list of publications as Working Paper of the IMF, the ECB, University of Lisbon and New University of Lisbon.
