Professor Yochanan Altman is an applied social scientist, educated in social/industrial psychology and organizational anthropology and trained in psychotherapy, with a cosmopolitan outlook and wide ranging international experience in business & management education, career counseling, well-being at work, personal and team development. Worked and lived in three countries and has held visiting appointments in more than a dozen geographies in three continents.

Main research areas: Human Resource Management and Organizational Behaviour in an international and comparative context, with a stress on careers, gender and professional communities; the intersection of spirituality and religion with organizations and management; xenophobia at the workplace; micro organizational behavior with emphasis on materiality and lived experiences and special interest in food and commensality.

Published some 140 papers in learned journals (several of which won best paper/highly recommended awards) and chapters in research books; authored, co-authored and edited over 20 books, special issues and teaching texts; presented over 140 papers in international conferences and organized and chaired 12 international conferences. An extensive editorial experience, having founded an academic journal, edited four others and served on the editorial board of 17 learned journals.

Highly experienced practitioner in personal counseling and psychotherapy, team development and team management and an organizational consultant.
